meet Monique
My journey in dog training began in 2005 at the Arizona Animal Welfare League, where I worked hands-on with shelter dogs. I was especially drawn to the behaviorally challenged and often misunderstood bully breeds—dogs who needed not just structure, but understanding, patience, and clear communication. Over four years of volunteering in the kennels, I developed a deep passion for helping dogs others had overlooked or given up on.
Following my time at the shelter, I continued volunteering with multiple rescue organizations throughout Maricopa County, further expanding my experience with dogs of all temperaments, backgrounds, and behavioral challenges.
In 2012, I became Co-Founder of Big Bully Rescue in Phoenix, dedicated to advocating for and rehabilitating bully breeds. In 2015, I went on to found Bully Pride of Arizona, where I served as Founder and President. During this time, I also worked as the Lead Trainer and Director of Social Media for JD’s Powerhouse K9 Bootcamp, helping educate owners and transform dogs through structured, relationship-focused training.
Today, as the owner and trainer at Elite K9 Training Ranch, I specialize in resolving problem behaviors and helping owners build calm, confident, and reliable dogs. My training philosophy is balanced and relationship-based, combining clear structure, fair accountability, and positive reinforcement. I emphasize proper timing, consistency, and the effective use of body language—because body language is the primary way dogs communicate and understand the world around them.
Every dog is unique, which is why I create customized training plans tailored to each dog’s specific needs and each owner’s goals. Whether your dog struggles with aggression, leash reactivity, anxiety, lack of confidence, or destructive behaviors, my goal is to help you restore clarity, trust, and harmony in your relationship.
